Hello, I am Pastor Carlos of the Community Church of the Nazarene in Mansfield, IL. My wife, Becky, and I are both graduates of Olivet Nazarene University, class of '78, and both majored in Business Administration. I graduated again from ONU with a Masters in Business Administration in 2000. Becky has worked at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana for over 22 years. I worked for 5 years in Youth and Music as an assistant pastor in Michigan a few years back. Then God called me to preach/pastor and full-time ministry in 2002 . I was appointed at Mansfield in 2003. We have really enjoyed our years at Mansfield and God is blessing.

I have a son, Carlos II, who is married to Kristen with a 7 year old son, Camden Arthur, my first grandson and now my second grandson, Colson Gregory, is 5 years old. In March of 2008 they were blessed with the arrival of their third son, Caiden Thomas, now 3 years old. “My Three Grandsons” have been a riot! Never a dull moment in that house. But now they added a fourth Grandson in July of 2010, Christian Wayne. Our own Gospel Quartet!

My son graduated from ONU in religion and is now an Associate Pastor and Worship Leader at Christ’s Community Church of the Nazarene in New Albany, Indiana. Our daughter, Marji Jean age 23, graduated last May from Olivet Nazarene University in Education. Marji has felt a call to missions since she was 14 years old. She is now living on the campus of Korean Nazarene University in South Korea teaching English in the Nazarene Foreign Language Institute. She knows she is in God’s will and enjoying teaching from Pre-kindergarten ages to High School. We seriously thank God for Skype and iPhones with Facetime to keep in touch with her 12,000 miles away.

Our South Korean daughter, Eun Ji Kim, lived with us in 2005-6 as a high school foreign exchange student for 10 months. Eun Ji’s father is the Pastor of the Gwang Yang, Presbyterian Church in the Democratic Republic of South Korea. She came back in January of 2008 to attend college. Eun Ji is getting excellent grades at Olivet, and roomed with Marji last year as she is working to complete a double major in Political Science and History, graduating in 2012. With her parent’s permission, we have made Eun Ji a part of our family. Marji and Carlos II love having a younger sister and being an accomplished pianist, she is a real asset to our church, as well!

We have a wonderful congregation of people that love God and each other. We work together to share the Gospel of Christ and show His love to the community around us. Together we are a praying church family, believing in the power of prayer because we have seen God answer prayer in many lives. Our goal is to be serving God by serving others and to do that we must be… “One heart, one mind… in Christ!” We would love to have the opportunity to get to know you and your family better.
